What is hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding applies grass seed in a water-based slurry with mulch and other specified ingredients. It establishes a lawn from seed, so the green application is a seedbed covering rather than an instant lawn.
What is in the mix?
A hydroseeding mix typically includes water, seed and fiber mulch. Fertilizer and a binder may be specified for the soil and project. Seed selection should match the climate, sunlight and intended use. The application method does not turn an unsuitable grass variety into a suitable one.
Where does it make sense?
Hydroseeding can distribute seed across prepared residential yards and larger disturbed areas. Access for equipment, a dependable water supply and a realistic establishment period matter. On slopes, the mulch specification and drainage conditions need particular attention.
What does the green color mean?
The tint helps show where material has been applied. It does not show that roots have established or that a lawn is ready for traffic. Appearance changes as mulch dries and seedlings develop; judge progress by the seed mix and site conditions.
Before requesting a quote
Describe your location, approximate area, shade, slope and current ground cover. Explain whether grading, debris removal or irrigation work remains. Ask what preparation and aftercare are included so the proposal covers the whole project.
Questions before you start
Does hydroseeding work on existing grass?
A dense existing lawn can prevent seed from reaching soil. The appropriate renovation method depends on the existing cover and why the lawn is thin; spraying over grass is not a substitute for assessing the seedbed.
Is hydroseeding instant grass?
No. The seed must germinate and establish. Sod provides immediate cover, although it also needs watering and time to root.
